PREFACE

You may never have heard of Germanium before, except perhaps as a substance used for transistors. I hadn't, until the day I was handed a plastic bag full of papers, a book on the subject, and asked to produce a summary report. Without preconceptions, nor any burning interest on the subject, I started to read: the 1st International Conference on Germanium, Dr. Asai's book, "Germanium - Miracle Cure", literally hundreds of scientific papers and reports of natural practitioners, with extraordinary case studies.

I was turned on. As a scientist, I was impressed by the quality of the research, and the solidity of the data that has been documented on Germanium's therapeutic effects. Here is a substance which has been substantially researched medically, scientifically and holistically, for more than a decade, which has been elegantly documented to be non-toxic, immuno-enhancing, oxygen enriching, radiation and mutagenically protecting, detoxifying, as well as a potent analgesic. And this is merely a short list of Germanium's attributes.

As an adventurous and curious individual who has partaken of the wisdom of various spiritual, esoteric and holistic practices on my own personal journey toward wholeness and well-being, I feel an extraordinary synchronicity about the task I have been given with this healing substance: to bring together the diverse sources of technical information of organic Germanium into a readable and hopefully interesting form.

I am a scientific researcher. I am not involved in, nor do I have an interest in, sales, patents or profits from Germanium. I am, however, intensely fascinated by this trace element, and propelled by curiosity to discover unifying principles underlying Germanium's ability to restore health to a diseased body. This element is the embodiment of a holistic substance, and I feel sincerely fortunate to have been handed the opportunity to review and disseminate information about its therapeutic properties.
